Fold-formed copper/sterling silver necklace. Modern as well as boho, organic vibe. Coordinating pieces available
I loved making this contemporary copper necklace! Truly one-of-a-kind, it has an attractive chain with a toggle clasp closure and lies beautifully on your neck. Created with a process called fold-forming, I created this with a piece of bare copper sheet metal. Cut into many circles of different sizes, those metal pieces were repeatedly annealed (meaning softened with a torch to the point of being pliable) and then folded tightly, and opened up and unfolded and gently hammered flat, and then annealed again and then folded tightly, and opened up and unfolded and gently hammered flat a second and third time...then gently manipulated into their pleasing organic domed shapes. This technique is called fold forming. The many graduating sizes were connected with sterling silver U-shaped connections that I also made by hand. Each one has a balled end on either side to hold it securely in place. These are very functional as they are quite secure and allow for great movement between the pieces but also add an extra touch of dimension and interest to this design!
The chain coordinates in its copper finish beautifully! This necklace is as modern and contemporary as it is are rugged due to the many gorgeous fold-formed textures and patinas. It is certainly fun to wear, lightweight and sure to bring lots of complements! This necklace is entirely made by hand by me in my studio. It measures 18" in length and the domed, fold-formed circles measure between 3/4" and 1 1/4" wide.
This necklace has both great texture and movement, two design features I feel strongly about incorporating into my work. This is a one-of-a-kind necklace and additional pieces are not available by custom order. You will love wearing this necklace...and truly won't ever see it on anyone else!
