My Story

About Diana

I am from New York and earned my degree in Fashion Design and Business from Cornell University.  After graduation, I married my college sweetheart and best friend and moved to the Mid-Atlantic area.  We ultimately landed in Maryland and raised our two sons in Bel Air.  My careers evolved over the years from being a manager as well as buyer of both clothing and jewelry at a major department store chain to selling real estate.  My design background certainly came into play in these various careers but I now enjoy focusing my time exclusively on designing and creating jewelry.

I have taken hundreds of hours of workshops and classes to include many with world renowned Jewelry Masters.  All that education combined with dedicating time to allow myself to simply "play" with my materials and master new techniques has lead to where I am today!  I spend many hours in my home studio creating one-of-a-kind designs that often reflect bold architectural lines as well as the fabulous textures and gentle folds found in fine fabrics, all life influences of mine.

If I'm not at my bench, I'm likely spending time with my family.  We lived full-time in the Sarasota area of Florida for awhile but recently moved back to Maryland.  We now live in the Frederick area, close to both of our sons while also being able to enjoy all that this beautiful area has to offer!

About My Work

My jewelry designs incorporate many different techniques and sometimes more than a couple in the same design.  I am predominantly a metalsmith and enamelist.  I tend to make small “collections” of jewelry that are of a particular theme/design and then move onto whatever is inspiring me next.  I enjoy diversity in my work and it is with with rare exception that my designs not one-of-a-kind.  For me, designing jewelry is very exciting, multi-faceted and ever-evolving.  I am consistently excited by new techniques I've learned and in turn integrate into my  designs.  It keeps my inventory fresh and new.  I will never stop learning!

My designs are bold, contemporary and sophisticated.  My inspiration comes from my fashion design background and the world around me but I am most influenced by architecture as well as by clothing and textiles.  I always have something new coming off my bench and into my shop and once its gone, its gone!  Although my designs are always changing, my design aesthetic remains much the same and as such my customers find it easy and exciting to add on to their collections from year to year.  Be sure to check this website often as there will always be something new! My designs, techniques and materials are always very much evolving and change is imminent.

My Studio

Every piece of jewelry you see listed is designed and handmade by me, in my studio in the Frederick area of Maryland.

There are many talented jewelry artists in this world and finding a niche that is truly unique and different is not easy to do!  I believe I have done that by combining materials and techniques in creative ways.  I find tremendous gratification in the unique and time-intensive designs that I create.  My jewelry friends tell me I have "found my voice" and I'm happy to share my a cappella of handmade creations!

My Studio is my "Happy Place".  I find the process of creating jewelry to be calming, playful, and zen.  Every piece I make is made from this happy place that I hope can provide the same sentiments for each new respective owner!
